Our first night in our new guest house in Mirissa.
Good sleep, very calm, no street noise, just soft animal noises and the obligatory bakery guy with his „Für Elise“ signature sound.
It is quite funny that this is the signature tone of the bakery vehicle and you can hear that everywhere in Weligama and Mirissa. Possibly on the whole south coast or even the whole country.
Today was our second real of the diving course. The plan was to join the more experienced group and go out with the boat to the Mirissa rock, to dive in 12m depth.
Obviously we were quite nervous after just one dive in shallow water on the day before.
That was the first time diving in deep water, first time start from a boat, and first time trying to equalize.

Tini did quite well and could do the whole dive. I had some serious problems with equalization and couldn’t go more below than 3m. I had to go up and down again about half a meter to get back in the comfort zone for my ears and sinus. But after 5 times trying I gave up, and me and my instructor went back to the surface.
I had mixed feelings about the whole dive before and with the lack of practice before it was not really successful for me. The others were quite happy and saw a lot of fish in crazy colors. After the dive I could feel that my ears were still hurting a bit, and Tini’s were also a bit battered, so we didn’t do another dive this day and went home to Mirissa to hang out at the Beach and stroll around a bit.
